A Very Ordinary Life

Just sitting here at 2:00 P.M. wondering why I am not in bed sleeping. Have developed a sleep dysfunction here of late. Now what does one do in the early morning. I certainly can't do any Christmas shopping with the exception of WalMart & I am too scared to go out in the early morning. So I look @ books on EBay Half.com, write down some I might be interested in, then check them out thru the library, works for me. I also read a lot of blogs. Have read some of the best creative writing, seen much artistic ability. Blogging has opened a new world to me. I am not much of a writer but have met many talented people thru their blogs. Who would have thought so many people could write & create so well. Guess I am too snug as a bug in my small world. Hubby sleeps blissfully away while I discover the world. Starting to ramble so will close for now.

Yahoooooooo, 3 more days & we celebrate Jesus birth & spend joy filled time with families. Still have 1 or 2 items to get. Of course, not everyone has a wonderful Christmas, if my house was big enough I would have all people here. In the past I have spent some lonely Christmas days so I am not oblivious to loneliness. As I get older the present giving isn't as important as spending time with my loved ones. Acts of random kindness now dominate my Christmases, smiling at the salespeople in stores, they are rushed, their feet hurt and don't get much time off before the after Christmas sales start, so when we are in the midst of Christmas, remember not everyone has joy & sleigh bells in their life. Remember the hungry, the abused, animals abandoned, people with mental handicaps and many more in dire circumstances. Say a lil prayer at night for everyone. Thank God for all that we have. So many have so little. I wish all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. God bless

Winter Has Arrived

Winter has finally arrived here in Oklahoma. BahhhhhHumbug. I am thankful I don't live in the northeast or far north as Montana. The areas have inundated with frigid temps, snowstorms and blowing wind. We have the blowing wind but until yesterday afternoon, the temps were making history being so warm, then about 3:00 P.M. that changed drastically. We now are 17 degrees, lil snow on the ground. Glad I have Christmas almost done, cards sent, decorations up. Our children are grown and on their own, we have grandchildren, great grandchildren all out of state so our time is our own until the Holidays. We are both retired, do pretty much what we want to. Thinking about testing the snowbird route, cold weather takes it toll as a person ages. We are still active, hubby bowls in a senior citizen league, I have volunteered, grew weary of that when my health took a plunge and now that I am back to normal, ready to do something different. Been reading a lot of the blogs, lots of interesting, talented people in this country. Time to read some more blogs.

Life in General

Ooooooh weeeeeee, such a cold & blustery morning. Makes a body want to crawl back in bed, pull the covers over the head & say forget any productive activities today. No sun, cloud cover & trees shaking in the freezing temperatures. Just a day for taking warm naps, eating cookies & drinking hot chocolate. If the snow doesn't fall & the temperatures stay in the 20's will be fine with me. Was reading the comments on Brandi, don't like the song either & I am Senior Citizen, I grew up with the birth of rock & roll. Also am finally tired of hearing Pop Christmas songs, the radio & TV have been playing the same ones since the 1st of November. Ahhhh well goes with the commercialism of Christmas. Still a wonderful nation to live in. I delight in the small wonders of life, a warm & comfortable bed @ night, hot water in the shower, being able to get out of bed, seeing, talking & hearing. Family to love, the small wonders of everyday life. Not having to fall out at the crack of dawn, go out in the frigid world to start the car. Being retired has its perks. So much for my meandering around. Have a peaceful day, smile @ someone.

Almost time for sunrise. Cold, windy, wet and blustery this morning. Wind gusting up to 25 mph. Been reading some of the the blogs, seems as most of the bloggers are quite young. If there are senior bloggers out there, I would like to exchange thoughts with you. Not that I am discrimnatory against the young, our brains just run on different wave lengths. I am retired, married to a nice man, have 2 daughters (1 a stepdaughter) and 2 sons (both stepsons). 70 years of age, sometimes had to grapple with depression but on wonderful meds now and love life to the fullest. We are ordinary, not spectacular people but have a comfortable life. One sister, on brother (deceased, mother and father both deceased (on both sides of family. Have wonderful in-laws in Colorado Springs, CO. If there are others out from the same background, would appreciate your comments and would love to read your blogs. Have a peaceful day.
